Fly Tying the Blue Beretta Euro Nymph Pattern

This week I want to highlight a pattern that has become one of my favorites.

The Blue Baretta is a Lance Egan inspired pattern. I was having such success with his thread bodied Frenchie that I started working additional color and texture variations.

Contrast is the name of the game here. The dark body and contrasting bright collar make for a searching pattern that has been getting slammed on the rivers and lakes.

Here you see the ultraviolet fluorescents come through under the UV light.

Perhaps it is the UV elements or the fact that it is so smooth that it gets down in a hurry. Either way, it is lethal and a quick pattern to tie!
