Fishing and Fly Tying: I Told You So Stone

The I Told You So Golden Stone is a nymph pattern that attracts fish. Stoneflies are a predominant food source in so many rivers, so this pattern has become a go-to for prospecting. Many fish have been fooled by the I Told You So Golden Stone in many places. Recently I had great success on back to back July trips to Pennsylvania and Montana where the takes were soft and subtle.

I saw this guy surfing in a small pocket of edge water. He was tucked in under a low limb on the other side of the river. Fortunately, I was able to sneak a low side arm cast in up river right to the bank. Drifted my two fly euro nymph rig down into the zone and watched the eat. Instantly after eating the I Told You So Golden Stone the head shakes began and the chase was on.
